Drindl Outfit

I love making Dirndl outfits and I haven't made one in a while... When I saw this navy blue with pink flowers fabric, I instantly pictured a dirndl outfit. So, when I finally had a free Saturday to work on a project, this was my first choice, hands down. One day, I'd like to make a Dirndl style dress for myself!

I used a combo of two dress patterns from Pleasant Company's Kirsten patterns.
For the blouse I used the "school dress" bodice and just lengthened it into a shirt:)
The 'vest' piece, I used the "apron dress" bodice and then just eyeballed trimming it out to what it is.

The apron, was originally going to be white like the blouse, but once I put it together I really didn't like how it looked. I went to back to my fabric stash an found a lovely pink voile, perfect! I was going to stash the white apron away to be used for something else...but then had the idea to stick it under the semi sheer pink apron and I loved the result.

I added the lace to the skirt and thought adding it to the 'vest' would tie the two together nicely.
I was a little disappointed that the covered buttons don't stand out a little more..but covered buttons are my favorite..so yeah, they're staying.

The back of the blouse closes with three snaps, I am really starting to like using snaps for doll clothes. I hate velcro, so buttons have felt like my only other option for awhile.

Honestly, I love the outfit without the apron, but then I end up feeling like its missing something..
